Dr. Chris Golightly is a UK Chartered Civil Engineer, with over 30 years experience in onshore and offshore civil, geotechnical and seismic engineering, including more than 15 years in the oil and gas sector. This experience includes both office-based design and reporting, technical due diligence reviews and onshore and offshore field supervision. He has previously worked for consulting engineers, global survey and oil and gas companies, major offshore contractors, banks, lenders, developers, consultants, certifiers and govt./private research organisations.
He obtained a BSc in Civil Engineering from The University of Manchester in 1980 and an MSc in Engineering Geology from Durham in 1982 This was followed by PhD Research and a one year British Royal Society Post-Doctoral Fellowship at IFP in Paris, from 1985 to 1989.
Since starting as an independent consultant in October 2005 he has been based near Brussels, working from 2010 on Oil & Gas and offshore wind projects mostly on third party design reviews and in Technical and Vendor Due Diligence teams. He has acted as an Expert Witness on a number of arbitrations/claims and as a Rapporteur for EC Horizon 2020 reviews for offshore wind research applications.
