I’m a Chartered Naval Architect with over 6 years of industry experience in ship design, classification, construction, and inspection. I have worked in both Classification Society and Consultancy positions
with specialisation in risk and engineering-based assessment of ship structures; having been involved in ship repair and shipbuilding for commercial, FPSO, military and para-military ships of various types, sizes, and conditions. Currently, I have been working closely with Australian FPSOs owners in managing their hull integrity management, shipyard preparation, and consultation by using engineering assessment while optimising their economical value.
Prior to becoming a Chartered Naval Architect, I have been working as Plan Approval Engineer (Naval Architect) at Ship Classification Malaysia (SCM) where I mainly deal with technical assessments such as structural calculation, finite element analysis, tonnage calculation, and equipment number calculation, newbuilding surveys with respect toward classification rules, IACS & IMO regulation, and SOLAS requirement.
For your information, I have completed my undergraduate study at Australian Maritime College, the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture with Honours. I have completed a wide range of units at AMC that have prepared me with a sound technical knowledge of the maritime industry. Meanwhile, I am also a full member of Engineer Australia, a graduate engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), a professional technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), a full member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and Chartered Engineer from Engineering Council (EC) United Kingdom.
Other than focusing on technical knowledge, I have consistently upgraded my managerial knowledge in a preparation for climbing the career progression. While working with SCM, I completed a Master of Engineering Management at RMIT University which has helped me link the technical and management elements in the corporate environment. In late of the year 2021, I have been accepted by OYAGSB, Universiti Utara Malaysia, in their Doctor of Business Administration, and am currently in my second year with the intention to do research in sustainability. In addition to that, I have completed several open certifications with Corporate Finance Institute (CFI) learning about finance, economics,
and business intelligence. I also completed an ESG specialization certificate with CFI at the end of 2022 as part of my CPD plan. For the year 2023, I’m targeting to complete Business Intelligence & Data Analyst (BIDA™) Certification with CFI and if time permitted, Financial Modeling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA®) Certification will be on the second list.
