Scope of work
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Piping Designer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Piping Designer, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of piping systems for Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO), Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG), and Mobile Offshore Production Units (MOPU) projects. Your expertise in offshore piping design and deep understanding of industry standards will contribute to the successful execution of our projects.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, project managers, and other designers to develop and finalize piping system designs for FPSO, FLNG, and MOPU projects.
- Conduct detailed engineering studies, feasibility analyses, and design calculations to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the piping systems.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documents for the fabrication, installation, and testing of piping systems in accordance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Review and evaluate supplier/vendor proposals and equipment specifications related to piping components.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior designers and drafters, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
- Collaborate with construction and commissioning teams during the installation, inspection, and testing phases of the piping systems.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies to identify potential issues and propose effective solutions.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to offshore piping design, and implement best practices within the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in piping design within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on FPSO, FLNG, and MOPU projects.
- Proficiency in utilizing design software such as AutoCAD, PDMS, or similar tools for creating piping layouts, isometrics, and detailed drawings.
- Strong knowledge of international standards and codes, including but not limited to API, ASME, and ISO, pertaining to offshore piping design and fabrication.
- Proven experience in the design and selection of piping materials, including knowledge of corrosion protection methods and material compatibility in offshore environments.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software and ability to interpret and modify 3D models for clash detection and coordination purposes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to propose innovative solutions for complex design challenges.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, enabling successful collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
- Proactive attitude towards safety, quality, and compliance, ensuring all design activities align with company and industry-specific regulations.
