Weight Control Engineer

timesheet-based serviceBid + Execution

Scope of work

Key Responsibilities: Weight Control Management: Develop and maintain a comprehensive weight control system for the offshore facility. Monitor and manage the weight distribution of equipment, modules, machinery, piping systems, and structures to ensure optimal stability and safety. Weight Estimations and Analysis: Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to estimate and analyze the weight of components during design and construction phases. Perform weight calculations and assessments for different scenarios, considering variable factors like equipment layout, fluids, and structural changes. Document Management: Maintain accurate records of weight data, calculations, and distribution plans. Create detailed reports and presentations for project management and regulatory compliance. Change Management: Evaluate proposed changes to equipment or systems to assess their impact on weight distribution and stability. Provide recommendations and guidance to ensure modifications do not compromise safety or stability. Coordination and Communication: Collaborate closely with design, construction, installation, and operations teams to ensure weight control measures are integrated throughout the project lifecycle. Communicate weight-related concerns and solutions effectively to stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and regulatory authorities. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with industry regulations, standards, and guidelines related to weight distribution and stability of offshore facilities. Ensure that the weight control strategies align with relevant regulatory requirements. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks related to weight distribution, stability, and safety. Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the development of mitigation strategies. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Offshore Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in weight control engineering for offshore platforms, FPSOs, or similar structures. Proficiency in weight estimation software, engineering analysis tools, and relevant industry standards. Strong understanding of offshore engineering principles, stability analysis, and weight distribution optimization. Familiarity with regulatory bodies and standards applicable to offshore structures (e.g., API, ABS, DNV). Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly to interdisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure. Prior experience in managing weight control on FPSOs will be a strong advantage. Offshore safety certifications (e.g., BOSIET) may be required, depending on the job location and employer requirements.
