Job Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Rotating Engineer will play a key role in the successful execution of FPSO/FLNG/FSO/MOPU projects in Kuala Lumpur, focusing on the FEED and detailed design phases. The incumbent will bring expertise in mechanical rotating equipment, particularly in the context of floating structures and offshore installations, ensuring the integrity and reliability of rotating machinery systems throughout the project lifecycle.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical rotating equipment engineering activities for FPSO/FLNG/FSO/MOPU projects, from FEED to detailed design stages.
  • Perform technical evaluations and selection of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and generators, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate rotating equipment designs into overall project layouts and configurations, optimizing space utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and engineering assessments to support decision-making processes related to rotating equipment selection, installation, and operation.
  • Review and approve vendor documents, drawings, and specifications for rotating equipment, verifying compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams on mechanical rotating equipment design, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Participate in design reviews, hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential safety and operational risks associated with rotating machinery systems.
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve technical issues, coordinate equipment deliveries, and ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Monitor project progress, budget, and schedule for mechanical rotating equipment scope, identifying deviations and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentation for rotating equipment, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on rotating equipment design, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven track record of working on FPSO, FLNG, FSO, MOPU, or similar offshore projects, with exposure to FEED and detailed design phases.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical rotating equipment principles, standards, and practices, including API, ASME, and ISO codes and specifications.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools for rotating equipment design and analysis, such as CAESAR II, PV Elite, and ANSYS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities, with the capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and project teams.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality, accuracy, and adherence to project requirements and deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required by project needs.
  • 5 years of minimum experience in EPC/EPCIC project
