Scope of work
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Piping Engineer to join our team in a key role, responsible for overseeing and managing piping engineering activities for offshore projects, particularly focused on FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading), FLNG (Floating Liquefied Natural Gas), and MOPU (Mobile Offshore Production Unit) installations. As a Lead Piping Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the successful design, installation, and maintenance of piping systems on offshore facilities, adhering to industry standards and best practices. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an individual with extensive experience in the oil and gas sector and a strong background in piping engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate piping engineering activities throughout all project phases, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Develop and review piping design specifications, materials selection, and engineering standards to meet project requirements and industry regulations.
- Conduct engineering studies, feasibility assessments, and technical evaluations to optimize piping systems' performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including structural engineers, process engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of piping systems with other disciplines.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, assisting in their professional development and ensuring adherence to engineering standards.
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate and optimize piping system design, including stress analysis, pipe sizing, and flow calculations.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard identification studies, and risk assessments to identify potential issues and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Review and approve technical documentation, including specifications, datasheets, and drawings, ensuring compliance with project requirements and quality standards.
- Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to support material selection, vendor evaluation, and piping fabrication and installation activities.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of piping systems to identify deviations, ensure compliance with design intent, and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 11-15 years of relevant experience in piping engineering within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on offshore projects, FPSO, FLNG, and MOPU installations.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards, such as ASME, API, and ISO, as well as familiarity with regulatory requirements related to offshore operations.
- Proficiency in piping design software and tools, such as AutoCAD, CAESAR II, and PDMS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct engineering calculations and simulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience in leading and managing teams of engineers.
