Job Summary:

The Head of Cost Control will oversee all financial aspects related to project expenditures within the oil and gas sector. This role requires extensive experience in cost management, particularly within the energy industry, to ensure efficient allocation of resources and adherence to budgetary constraints. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and strategic foresight to optimize cost control procedures and drive financial performance.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive cost control strategies to optimize project expenditures and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Monitor and analyze project budgets, expenditures, and forecasts to identify variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to establish cost baselines and track cost performance throughout project lifecycle.
  • Conduct cost risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to address potential cost overruns or delays.
  • Lead cost estimation and forecasting activities for upcoming projects, considering factors such as labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Establish and maintain robust cost reporting systems and procedures to provide timely and accurate financial information to management.
  • Evaluate vendor contracts and negotiate favorable terms to minimize costs and maximize value for the organization.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices in cost management to drive continuous improvement initiatives.


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 10 years of specialized experience in cost control.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, PMP) preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing cost control functions for large-scale energy projects, with demonstrated ability to deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies, with proficiency in cost estimation techniques and financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement innovative solutions to enhance financial performance.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Excel, SAP, and project management software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local regulations and industry standards related to cost management in the oil and gas sector.
