Electrical Designer

Overview

Prepare detailed design drawings and documents, ensuring quality and adherence to standards under Lead Designer guidance.

Scope of work

• Prepare drawings and design deliverables to required technical quality with guidance from engineering personnel.
• Responsible for preparation of detailed design drawings and documents to the requirements of the Lead Designer.
• Ensure all drawings and documents are complete within allocated hours as directed by the Lead Designer.
• Ensure discipline deliverables conform to best practice.
• Maintain good relations with other disciplines and the client at all times.
• Understand Department checking and approval procedures.
• Maintain project discipline filing system as per Company procedures.
• Effectively coordinate and manage assigned tasks meeting department and company performance standards.
• Interface internally with Engineering leads and Engineers.
• Interface externally with Client's representative.
• Able to perform full scope of electrical works including preparing SLD, motor control schematic and wiring, layouts, cable schedule, MTO, and installation details.
• Provide drafting checking function as directed by Lead Designer.
• Capable of directing activities and motivating junior design team members.
• Communicate clearly with engineering personnel.
• Contribute to group/discipline objectives applicable to drafting function.
• Conversant with company client drafting standards and specifications, and quality control assurance requirements applicable to drafting.

Key requirements

• Certificate or Diploma in relevant Drafting Discipline from a recognised institution
• At least eight (8) years working experience as a Drafter/Designer in related Drafting Discipline in oil & gas production facilities, petrochemical plant or related field
• Good knowledge of AutoCAD Computer Software
• Good supervisory skills
• Ability to perform full scope of electrical works including preparing SLD, motor control schematic and wiring, layouts, cable schedule, MTO and installation details
• Conversant with company client drafting standards and specifications
• Conversant with company quality control assurance requirements applicable to drafting function
• Computer literate (database/spreadsheets)
