Job Purpose
To oversee and coordinate all material management activities throughout the FLNG project lifecycle, ensuring timely availability, traceability, and quality compliance of materials required for fabrication, construction, and pre-commissioning. The Senior Material Coordinator serves as the key interface between the EPCIC Contractor, procurement, warehouse, logistics, and construction teams to ensure smooth material flow aligned with project schedule and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage material planning, tracking, and control for all project packages and bulk items at the fabrication yard.
- Liaise with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery, customs clearance, and documentation of project materials.
- Maintain full traceability of materials through the Material Management System (MMS) or equivalent platform.
- Review Material Take-Off (MTO), Purchase Requisitions (PR), and Delivery Schedules to align with fabrication and construction priorities.
- Supervise receiving, inspection, storage, preservation, and issuance of materials in accordance with QA/QC and safety requirements.
- Verify Material Certificates, MTRs, and vendor documentation for completeness and compliance with project specifications.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehouse and construction teams for stock replenishment or redistribution.
- Participate in material status review meetings and contribute to progress reporting and KPIs (e.g., material readiness, preservation condition).
- Support system completion and handover activities by ensuring all material records and traceability data are up-to-date and auditable.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior material coordinators or warehouse personnel.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in material coordination / control within oil & gas, FPSO, or FLNG projects, preferably during fabrication and construction phases.
- Strong familiarity with EPCIC project execution, material management databases, and document control systems.
- Experience working in yard-based environments (China or SE Asia) and coordinating across multicultural teams.
- Knowledge of applicable international standards (ASME, ASTM, API, etc.) and QA/QC documentation practices.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with proactive problem-solving capability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, ERP/MMS software (e.g., Smart Materials, SAP, or equivalent).
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience in FLNG / FPSO topside fabrication projects.
- Exposure to Owner’s Representative or PMC environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, MTOs, and technical datasheets.
- Mandarin communication ability is an advantage due to yard interface.
