Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Superintendent (Piping / Structure / Mechanical) to represent a foreign EPCIC project during the fabrication phase in China. The role will be based primarily at the fabrication yard and is critical to ensuring modules are fabricated in full compliance with contractual requirements, approved design documentation, and international quality standards.
The successful candidate will oversee fabrication activities across piping, structural steel, and mechanical disciplines, working closely with engineering, planning, quality, safety, and logistics teams to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the project representative at the fabrication yard, ensuring contractual, technical, and quality compliance.
- Supervise and monitor fabrication works for piping, steel structure, and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure fabrication activities strictly follow approved drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Identify and escalate design or contractual deviations, proposing corrective actions where required.
- Review fabrication schedules, manpower allocation, and material availability to prevent delays.
- Oversee fabrication sequences, including lifting analysis and lifting plans.
- Coordinate closely with QA/QC teams to ensure inspections, testing, and quality controls are properly executed.
- Work with safety teams to ensure compliance with project and site safety requirements.
- Interface with logistics teams to support packing, preservation, and transportation of modules for site installation.
- Provide regular progress and risk reports to project management.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in fabrication supervision within oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or heavy industrial projects.
- Strong hands-on experience in at least two disciplines:
- Piping fabrication, installation, and pressure testing
- Mechanical equipment installation (e.g. vessels, pumps, compressors)
- Proven experience working in Chinese fabrication yards (minimum 2 years).
- Solid understanding of offshore/module fabrication processes and international QA/QC standards.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Native Mandarin speaker with working proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills in a multicultural project environment.
