As Lead Operation Geologist, you will play a critical leadership role in overseeing geological operations during the drilling lifecycle. You will act as the technical authority bridging geoscience, subsurface, and drilling teams — ensuring operational execution is aligned with geological objectives, safe practices, and optimal reservoir contact. You will also mentor junior geologists and supervise wellsite geological activities across multiple rigs or high-priority wells.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise real-time geological support for drilling operations, including wellsite monitoring, formation evaluation, and geosteering decisions
- Ensure precise well placement aligned with reservoir targets, geological models, and field development plans
- Interface between subsurface teams and drilling engineers to ensure effective planning and execution of well objectives
- Assess and mitigate geological risks during drilling, including overpressure zones, fault zones, and wellbore stability issues
- Oversee the quality and interpretation of LWD/MWD, mudlogging, and wireline data
- Review and sign off on geological reports, daily updates, and end-of-well documentation
- Coordinate post-well analysis, capturing lessons learned and updating geological models
- Enforce HSE compliance in all geological operations and act as the geological representative during offshore/onshore operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or related discipline
- Minimum 10–15 years of upstream Oil & Gas experience in operational geology, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Strong track record in wellsite geology, pore pressure evaluation, and real-time drilling decision-making
- Proficient in tools such as Trinity, Petromod, and other industry-standard geoscience software
- Deep understanding of drilling operations, geohazards, and reservoir navigation
- Strong coordination, leadership, and reporting skills to work across multidisciplinary teams
- BOSIET and valid offshore survival certification preferred
