Job Title: Naval Architect
Location: Lagos, Nigeria (with periodic travel)
Duration: Long-term mission (48 months)
Key Responsibilities:
- Define technical and operational specifications and performance criteria for electric ferries.
- Prepare Detailed Engineering Design (DED) documentation for the vessels.
- Develop protocols for sea trials, vessel handover, maintenance, and related procedures.
- Provide support in the selection of shipyards for vessel construction.
- Take full responsibility for construction supervision of the electric ferries.
- Support the selection of a Classification Society and monitor the certification process.
- Inspect and approve e-ferry components and equipment, including verifying partial and final construction milestones.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) for key components (e.g., engine, radar).
- Participate in the handover process of the ferries and oversee handover protocols.
- Ensure delivery of ferries is on time, within budget, and meets quality expectations.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Education:
- Master’s degree (MSc) in Naval Architecture from an internationally recognized university.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum 20 years of experience in vessel design and construction supervision.
- Proven expertise in ferry design, ideally including electric ferries (e-ferries).
- Familiarity with working alongside or under the requirements of Classification Societies.
- Experience in developing country environments, especially with internationally funded (IFI) projects, is preferred.
- Must be fluent in both oral and written English.
