Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to support process engineering activities for its upstream oil and gas assets and projects. The role will be responsible for process design, technical studies, engineering deliverables, and operational support to ensure facilities are safe, reliable, and compliant with applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and review process engineering calculations, simulations, and technical studies for offshore oil and gas facilities.
- Develop and review process design deliverables, including:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Heat and material balances
- Process datasheets and equipment specifications
- Process philosophies and design basis documents
- Cause and effect charts and safeguarding narratives
- Conduct hydraulic calculations, line sizing, equipment sizing, relief and flare studies, and utility assessments.
- Support process simulations using relevant engineering software such as Aspen HYSYS.
- Review engineering documents, vendor submissions, technical bids, and contractor deliverables.
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, design reviews, and other process safety activities.
- Identify process bottlenecks, operational constraints, and opportunities for production optimisation.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting, plant modifications, debottlenecking, and management of change activities.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, project, safety, mechanical, piping, instrumentation, and other engineering disciplines.
- Ensure all work complies with company requirements, project specifications, international codes, and relevant regulatory standards.
- Support site or offshore activities when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 7 years of relevant process engineering experience within the upstream oil and gas industry.
- Strong experience with offshore production facilities, fixed platforms, FPSOs, or brownfield modification projects.
- Sound knowledge of oil and gas processing systems, including separation, compression, produced-water treatment, utilities, flare systems, and process safeguarding.
- Proficient in process simulation and engineering software, preferably Aspen HYSYS.
- Familiar with applicable industry codes, standards, and process safety requirements.
- Experience participating in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Able to independently manage engineering deliverables and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Available to undertake a 6-month contract assignment.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience supporting producing assets, brownfield modifications, or offshore facility upgrades.
- Familiarity with Malaysian upstream oil and gas requirements and PETRONAS technical standards.
- Experience working with operators, engineering consultants, or EPC/EPCIC contractors.
- Professional Engineer registration or relevant professional certification would be an advantage.
