Job Summary
The Senior Environmental Engineer – GHG Specialist will be part of the Environment & Decommissioning Team, providing technical expertise for environmental consulting projects in Malaysia and overseas. The role involves assessing and implementing decarbonization opportunities, performing GHG and carbon assessments, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and engineering practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Identify and assess opportunities for decarbonization, including energy efficiency, flare management, methane reduction, and renewable energy options.
- Perform carbon footprint assessments in line with the GHG Protocol.
- Quantify, characterize, and forecast emissions and discharges.
- Review engineering design documents and drawings for environmental studies.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and policies.
- Provide technical advice on environmental engineering and compliance.
- Contribute to HAZID/ENVID reviews and multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Supervise engineers and coordinate with clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Develop project schedules, monitor progress, and mitigate risks of overruns.
- Collaborate with global peers to share best practices and innovations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant science or engineering field.
- 8–10 years of experience in environmental engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in GHG/carbon reporting, carbon trading, and climate financing standards and policies.
- Experience in GHG emission calculations and environmental engineering studies.
- Project management experience on small to medium projects.
- Strong teamwork, client management, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage project schedules effectively.
- Knowledge of environmental engineering techniques, pollution control, and permitting studies.
- Experience in preparing proposals and implementing process improvements.
