Scope of work

Job Summary:

The Senior Instrument Engineer will play a pivotal role in the FPSO Project based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They will be responsible for overseeing the instrumentation aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to the successful execution of the project within the specified timeline.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the instrumentation engineering team to ensure timely and efficient completion of project deliverables.
  • Develop and review instrument specifications, datasheets, and drawings in adherence to project requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate instrumentation systems seamlessly into the overall project design.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of instrumentation vendors and provide recommendations for procurement.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and simulations to optimize instrument performance and reliability.
  • Participate in HAZOP and SIL assessments to identify and mitigate risks associated with instrumentation systems.
  • Support commissioning and startup activities by providing technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements related to instrumentation engineering.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers to foster their professional development.
  • Prepare progress reports, technical presentations, and documentation as required by project management.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in instrumentation engineering, preferably in the oil and gas industry with exposure to FPSO projects.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software such as AutoCAD, SPI, and HYSYS.
  • Strong knowledge of international codes and standards relevant to instrumentation engineering (e.g., API, ANSI, IEC).
  • Experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment techniques such as HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required during project execution.
