Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Rotating Equipment) to support FEED and Detailed Engineering execution for brownfield oil & gas projects. The role requires strong technical expertise in rotating equipment design, specification, and evaluation, along with the ability to work independently and interface effectively with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform and lead engineering design activities for rotating equipment (e.g. pumps, compressors, turbines, fans).
- Prepare and review datasheets, specifications, and technical requisitions.
- Execute FEED and Detailed Engineering (DED) deliverables for brownfield projects.
- Conduct technical bid evaluations (TBE) and vendor document reviews.
- Interface with vendors, clients, and internal disciplines (process, piping, instrumentation, electrical).
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (API, ISO, ASME).
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting when required.
- Guide and review work of junior engineers where applicable.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (recognized institution).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil & gas industry.
- Completed at least one (1) FEED or Detailed Engineering (DED) brownfield project as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment design, selection, and troubleshooting.
- Familiar with API standards (e.g. API 610, API 617, API 614).
- Experience in vendor management and technical bid evaluations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills with experience in client-facing roles.
