Job Summary
Our client are seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our team for a petrochemical project in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The role involves leading and managing process safety studies, loss prevention, and fire protection engineering design. The candidate will work closely with third-party consultants and clients, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of projects. This position offers a 1-year contract with the possibility of a permanent role.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage process safety studies and loss prevention activities.
- Review and liaise with third-party consultants and clients on process safety and fire protection engineering design.
- Ensure the quality and timely execution of third-party consultants' work.
- Support engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Assist in proposal execution, including technical write-ups, cost, and man-hour estimation.
- Develop design HSE plans and process safety study schedules.
- Select and coordinate with third-party consultants for safety studies.
- Prepare and review input/output design documents, analysis, and reports.
- Conduct and participate in desktop studies and review sessions (HAZID, HAZOP, IPF, HRA, QRA, etc.).
- Develop fire safety design philosophies, fire protection system design basis, and fire water network hydraulic calculations.
- Prepare fire protection equipment layouts, fire and gas cause-and-effect diagrams, and other related documents.
- Participate in installation/pre-commissioning activities and BOMBA matters.
- Prepare procedures for testing, pre-commissioning activities, and coordinate site work.
- Manage BOMBA submissions, approvals, and site functional testing and inspections.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Fire Safety Engineering qualification is an added advantage.
- 10-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, petrochemical plants, and EPCC projects.
- Competent user of Sound Plan and DNV PHAST/Safeti software is preferred.
- Experience in fire protection system and fire & gas detection system engineering design is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel for site support and BOMBA inspections.
- Positive attitude towards acquiring knowledge in multiple engineering disciplines.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and PC literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and report writing skills.
