1. Role Overview
The Senior Reservoir / Petroleum Engineer will support production and subsurface activities related to reservoir management, appraisal, and development.
This role focuses on optimising production performance and maximising asset value through advanced petroleum engineering analysis, including:
- Field data analysis
- Wellbore performance evaluation
- Network modelling
- Flow assurance studies
The position also contributes to:
- Production enhancement initiatives
- Well diagnostics and data acquisition
- Debottlenecking studies
- Field Development Planning (FDP)
Additionally, the role supports asset evaluations for potential growth opportunities and contributes to securing approvals for subsurface deliverables with internal and external stakeholders (partners, regulators, financial institutions, etc.).
2. Key Responsibilities
Technical & Operational
- Lead well diagnostics, troubleshooting, and intervention activities
- Monitor well testing, surveys, and production performance
- Perform well modelling and identify production enhancement opportunities (e.g. gas lift optimisation, perforation strategies, water shut-off)
- Conduct technology screening and recommend production improvement solutions
Subsurface & Development
- Support development planning and subsurface studies
- Work on:
- Network modelling
- Completion design
- Sand control strategies
- Flow assurance
- Debottlenecking and back pressure studies
- Compressor sizing and system optimisation (IOR/EOR related)
Data & Evaluation
- Maintain and update petroleum engineering databases
- Analyse:
- Production test data
- Pressure surveys / PBU data
- Well intervention reports
- Production history and logging data
Stakeholder & Team Support
- Collaborate with subsurface, drilling, and operations teams
- Engage with external stakeholders (regulators, partners, auditors)
- Mentor and guide junior engineers

- Indirect: Junior engineers and interns
4. Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline
Experience
- Minimum 12 years of oil & gas experience
- At least 10 years in Petroleum Engineering / Production Technology roles
- Strong experience in production optimisation and artificial lift systems
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Petroleum Experts IPM Suite:
- GAP, PROSPER, MBAL, PVTp, RESOLVE
- Experience in:
- Brownfield FDP / FFR projects
- Production chemistry and PVT modelling
- Sand control and completion design
- Tubing stress analysis
- Cased-hole log interpretation
- Strong understanding of:
- Flow dynamics
- Near wellbore damage
- Flow assurance
Additional Expertise
- Experience preparing Field Development Plans (FDP)
- Ability to evaluate and implement new technologies
