Scope of Work

Job Summary

This role is entrusted with ensuring the reliable, efficient, and safe operation of port mechanical assets. You will lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical terminal equipment — including Quay Cranes (QC), Rubber Tyre Gantry Cranes (RTG), and associated heavy machinery. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of managers, engineers, and technicians, you will help maintain world-class operational readiness and uphold strong safety and reliability standards.


Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance & Repair

Execute routine and corrective maintenance on port mechanical equipment, including QCs, RTGs, and other heavy machinery, ensuring peak operating performance and asset longevity.

Reliability & Performance Improvement

Monitor equipment performance, analyse failure trends, and support reliability improvement initiatives in line with project milestones. Review breakdown reports and implement corrective actions.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

Conduct detailed diagnostics using technical manuals, tools, and expertise to identify root causes of equipment issues. Develop and execute effective technical solutions.

Preventive Maintenance Execution

Plan and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and avoid unexpected failures.

Safety & Compliance

Perform all work in compliance with safety regulations and company HSE protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for personnel and equipment.

Parts & Inventory Control

Manage critical spare parts and tools inventory, initiate procurement as required, and ensure parts availability for seamless maintenance operations.

Reporting & Documentation

Maintain comprehensive maintenance logs, inspection reports, spare parts records, and improvement recommendations.

Collaboration & Technical Support

Engage closely with engineers, technicians, and operations teams to provide technical guidance and ensure operational continuity.

Emergency Maintenance Support

Respond promptly to equipment failures and urgent maintenance needs to minimise operational disruption.

Continuous Learning & Training

Stay updated on mechanical and hydraulic technologies, participate in relevant training, and maintain technical competency.

Leadership & Administrative Duties

Perform supervisory tasks including PMDS evaluation, warranty claim processing, and other assignments necessary to meet departmental goals.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s / Professional Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years’ mechanical maintenance experience in heavy machinery or port equipment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong background in mechanical and hydraulic systems (e.g., brakes, gearboxes, wire ropes, etc.); structural inspection experience is an advantage.
  • Proven track record in maintaining and troubleshooting port terminal equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards in a port/industrial environment.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in physically challenging environments and extreme weather conditions.
  • Skilled in the use of mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and support emergency maintenance when required.
