Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract (1–2 years, renewable based on performance)
Job Objectives
- To manage exploration-related documents, subsurface data, and technical IT/database systems within the Exploration Department
- To provide GIS, mapping, and software support to exploration staff
- To act as a focal point for exploration data coordination with regulators, joint-venture partners, and technical vendors
Key Responsibilities
Exploration Data & Document Management
- Manage exploration-related datasets and documentation including:
- Well data
- Seismic data
- Geological maps
- Samples
- Technical reports
- Establish, maintain, and administer:
- Exploration databases
- GIS-based databases
- Technical document control systems
GIS, Mapping & Technical Support
- Perform GIS data management and mapping activities using ArcGIS
- Conduct mapping, drawing, and basic data analysis to support exploration activities
- Provide technical support to exploration staff for data access, usage, and interpretation
Technical IT & Software Support
- Manage and support exploration technical software to ensure effective use by the exploration team
- Coordinate software procurement, licensing, renewals, and vendor engagement
- Liaise with internal IT and cybersecurity teams on system access, compliance, and data security
Exploration Project Support
- Support preparation of exploration deliverables, including:
- Well proposals
- Drilling plans
- Annual reports and technical submissions
- Prepare datasets for:
- Internal reporting
- HQ sharing
- Potential partners and third-party data rooms (as required)
External & Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as focal point for:
- Technical datasets
- Exploration software
- Interface with:
- Regulators (e.g. national petroleum authorities)
- Joint-venture partners
- Technical vendors and service providers
Other Duties
- Perform other exploration data management and technical IT-related tasks as required
- Collaborate closely with internal IT Security and senior technical analysts
Reporting Line
- Reports directly to Head of Exploration
Key Requirements
- Strong knowledge of GIS data management
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS
- Experience managing exploration or subsurface datasets (well, seismic, geological data)
- Familiarity with technical document control systems
- Comfortable supporting technical users (geologists, engineers)
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential technical data
