Scope of Work

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Permata Sapura)

Employment Type: Contract (1 Year, Renewable Based on Performance & Business Requirements)

Work Environment: Office-Based


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced JV Accountant to support Joint Venture accounting activities, financial reporting, budget monitoring, cash call processing, and compliance requirements within the Oil & Gas industry.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate JV accounting, reviewing Joint Interest Billings (JIBs), monitoring budgets and expenditures, supporting audits, and coordinating with operators, joint venture partners, and internal stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

Joint Venture Accounting

  • Review and process Joint Interest Billings (JIBs), Cost Statements (CSs), and Cash Calls.
  • Prepare and maintain JV accounting records and reconciliations.
  • Monitor JV expenditures against approved budgets and work programs.
  • Review and support annual JV budgets and Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) submissions.
  • Process month-end accruals and accounting adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly cost monitoring reports and budget utilization reports.
  • Coordinate with operators and JV partners regarding accounting and budget-related queries.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Support statutory reporting and financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepare reconciliations and auditor schedules.
  • Assist with annual audits and JV audit activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and industry standards.
  • Support legal, corporate, and financial compliance activities.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with operators, joint venture partners, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Finance, Commercial, Legal, and Technical teams.
  • Provide financial information and analysis as required.


Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CMA, CPA, or partially qualified Chartered Accountant is an advantage.


Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years of accounting experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and financial reporting skills.
  • Good understanding of accounting standards and financial controls.
  • Experience working with operators and JV partners.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
