Role Overview
The Senior Topside Structural Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality, integrity, and timely completion of topside structural works at the fabrication yard. This role involves direct engagement with contractors, design teams, and internal engineering disciplines to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, codes, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate topside structural fabrication, assembly, and loadout activities.
- Review and validate structural design drawings, fabrication procedures, and engineering deliverables.
- Ensure construction and fabrication compliance with relevant international codes and project standards (ASME, AWS D1.1, NORSOK, API).
- Monitor and verify dimensional control, material traceability, and quality records.
- Liaise with QA/QC, welding, and inspection teams to ensure fabrication quality and documentation completeness.
- Participate in construction meetings, safety briefings, and coordination sessions with discipline leads.
- Review and close out inspection test plans (ITPs), non-conformance reports (NCRs), and punch lists.
- Provide technical support during pre-commissioning, integration, and loadout phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in structural fabrication for offshore facilities (FPSO / FLNG / offshore platforms).
- Proven experience in yard supervision, fabrication oversight, and interface management.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME, AWS, API, and NORSOK standards.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with EPC contractors, yard personnel, and client representatives.
- Previous experience in China yards (e.g., Nantong, Zhoushan, Qidong) will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to be based full-time at the fabrication yard.
