Job Summary / Principal Accountabilities
The Field Relations Officer is responsible for implementing, managing, and developing operational relationships with central, provincial, and district government agencies to ensure the smooth running of project activities. This position plays a crucial role in implementing government relations strategies, ensuring the fulfillment of corporate communication obligations, and supporting the operational sustainability and acceptance of projects by local governments.
Responsibility
- Serve as an operational liaison between the company and the district/provincial government.
- Support the coordination process for permits, approvals, and other regulatory activities at the regional level.
- Convey project information in a structured manner to government officials in accordance with official protocols.
- Assist in handling issues and risks arising in government relations.
- Maintain the company's image as a responsive, cooperative organization that complies with government regulations.
Work Relationship
Internal:
- Coordinate with the Lead Government Relations Officer, Permitting, Regulatory, and Community Relations teams.
- Support cross-functional communication including HSE, Operations, and Project Management.
External:
- Liaise with district and provincial governments, technical agencies, regional authorities, and security support agencies.
- Coordinate with ministries or central agencies when necessary to submit reports or request support.

- Conflict Handling & De-escalation Skills — the ability to defuse issues in the field and maintain stable relationships with stakeholders.
- Reporting & Documentation Skills — preparing clear, factual, and timely reports on field situations.
- Proficient in MS Office; policy writing and reporting.
Minimum Requirements / Work Experiences:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Economic, Communications, Government Science, or relevant field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in government and community relations or other external roles.
- Experience working in remote areas is a plus.
- Experience conducting field engagement with district/village governments.
- Experience handling sensitive socio-field situations.
- Experience working with local Papuan stakeholders is a plus.
- Willingness to live or work long-term at the project site.
- High mobility and readiness to visit villages/districts regularly.
- Representative, polite, and follow local government protocols.
- Ready to coordinate quickly in the event of an incident or emergency.
- Able to maintain professional relationships with local stakeholders.
- Good formal and informal communication skills.
- Able to work independently in remote areas with minimal supervision.
- Able to compile field reports systematically.
