Scope of Work

We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our client team in Jakarta. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of process operations, focusing on the design, implementation, and maintenance of process safety management systems in alignment with industry best practices. This role is pivotal within our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and leading hazard identification and risk management processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems, ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations.
  • Conduct and lead risk assessments, including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL studies, to identify potential hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team during the design phase of EPC projects to incorporate safety considerations into process design and operational procedures.
  • Oversee process safety reviews and audits during project development, execution, and operational phases to ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Lead or participate in the investigation of process safety incidents, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure all process safety activities comply with relevant local and international standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and other staff on process safety principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Prepare and review process safety documentation, including safety case reports, safety design philosophies, and safety management plans.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on process safety objectives and requirements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in process safety engineering, with significant exposure to EPC projects within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or energy industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of process safety management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and safety engineering standards (e.g., OSHA, API, IEC 61511).
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Process Safety Professional (CSP), Functional Safety Engineer (FSE), or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Proficient in process safety software tools such as PHA-Pro, BowTieXP, and SIL verification tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team of engineers.
