Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Design HSE Engineer/Technical Safety Engineer with 5-8 years of experience for a 1-year contract position in Kuala Lumpur. The ideal candidate will lead Design HSE Studies, Loss Prevention Studies, and Fire Protection Engineering Design. The role involves collaborating with third-party consultants, managing engineering deliverables, and supporting construction and commissioning teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and review Design HSE and Loss Prevention Studies.
- Liaise with third-party consultants and clients on HSE studies and Fire Protection Design.
- Conduct safety studies for engineering deliverables.
- Ensure timely and quality project delivery from third-party consultants.
- Support Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning activities.
- Assist in proposal preparation, including technical write-ups and cost estimation.
- Develop Design HSE documents: HSE Plans, Studies Schedules, etc.
- Manage third-party consultant selection and coordination.
- Perform desktop studies: HAZID, HAZOP, QRA, F&G Mapping, and more.
- Prepare Fire Safety Design and HSE Philosophies.
- Design Fire Protection Systems, including equipment layouts and hydraulic calculations.
- Support installation, pre-commissioning, and BOMBA inspections.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Fire Safety Engineering qualification is an advantage.
- 6+ years of experience in Design HSE for onshore petrochemical plants, refineries, or offshore facilities.
- Proficiency in Sound Plan, DNV PHAST/Safeti, Pipenet software is a plus.
- Experience in Fire Protection System and Fire & Gas Detection Design is a plus.
- Willingness to travel for commissioning and inspections.
- Basic knowledge of various engineering disciplines.
- AutoCAD proficiency and MS Office skills.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and report writing skills.
