About the Role
Trees Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Valve Design Verification Engineer to support a major Oil & Gas project in Indonesia. The successful candidate will provide independent third-party technical verification and validation of industrial valve designs, ensuring compliance with international engineering standards, project specifications, and industry best practices throughout the engineering, manufacturing, inspection, and testing lifecycle.
This role requires a highly experienced valve engineering specialist with extensive knowledge of valve design, engineering calculations, manufacturing processes, quality assurance, and technical verification.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform independent technical verification and validation of industrial valve designs.
- Review engineering drawings, datasheets, dimensional drawings, and design documentation.
- Verify pressure containment design, valve component sizing, sealing arrangements, and material selection.
- Validate valve engineering calculations, including:
- Stem calculations
- Bolting calculations
- Seal diameter calculations
- Pressure design calculations
- Lifting lug calculations
- Review valve qualification and design validation activities in accordance with applicable international standards.
- Evaluate Finite Element Analysis (FEA) reports where applicable.
- Assess engineering methodologies, design procedures, and technical capabilities of valve manufacturers.
- Conduct technical audits of manufacturing facilities, engineering departments, and quality systems.
- Verify manufacturing processes, machining tolerances, assembly procedures, and bolting torque requirements.
- Review Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), hydrotesting, calibration systems, inspection procedures, and testing facilities.
- Evaluate supplier and sub-supplier qualification processes, material compliance, and engineering controls.
- Verify Quality Management Systems, engineering change management procedures, and NDT qualifications.
- Prepare technical review reports, engineering assessments, observations, and progress reports throughout the project.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in valve engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proven experience in Valve Design Verification, Valve Design Validation, or Independent Technical Review.
- Extensive experience with:
- Ball Valves
- Gate Valves
- Globe Valves
- Check Valves
- Double Block & Bleed (DBB) Valves
- Strong understanding of pressure-containing equipment and valve engineering principles.
- Experience working with valve manufacturers, EPC contractors, or independent engineering consultancy companies.
- Experience supporting Offshore, LNG, Gas Processing, Petrochemical, Refinery, or Pipeline projects.
- Experience reviewing or witnessing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
- Strong analytical, technical review, and engineering reporting skills.
- Willingness to travel to vendor facilities across Indonesia.
