Job Summary
The Assistant Barge Engineer supports the Barge Engineer in managing the stability, ballasting, and overall operational integrity of the barge. This role assists in ensuring safe and efficient offshore construction, installation, and marine activities while maintaining compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining barge stability, ballasting, and structural integrity.
- Support the execution of offshore installation, construction, and heavy lifting operations.
- Ensure compliance with marine regulations, safety standards, and permit-to-work systems.
- Assist in coordinating mooring, anchoring, and positioning activities.
- Conduct routine inspections of ballast control systems, marine equipment, and safety measures.
- Maintain accurate records of ballast operations, stability calculations, and marine logs.
- Provide technical support for emergency response and marine incident management.
- Work closely with offshore teams, including Marine, Installation, and Construction teams.
- Report operational and safety concerns to the Barge Engineer and offshore management.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of offshore experience, with at least 2 years in a marine operations role.
- Valid offshore survival certification (BOSIET/FOET) and relevant marine competency certificates.
- Knowledge of ballasting operations, stability calculations, and barge operations.
- Experience with offshore construction, heavy lifting, and mooring procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in offshore environments.
- Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, and offshore marine regulations.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to support offshore operations.
