Role Overview
The Night Toolpusher is responsible for overseeing all drilling operations during night shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective performance. This position plays a key supervisory role, ensuring adherence to drilling programs, maintaining operational integrity, and supporting the rig crew in executing daily objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate drilling operations during the night shift in compliance with company and client safety procedures.
- Ensure drilling parameters and operations are executed as per the drilling program and the Company Man’s instructions.
- Oversee the performance of the drilling crew, providing technical guidance and ensuring safe working practices at all times.
- Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ensure proper job planning for all night operations.
- Monitor well conditions, mud parameters, and drilling performance, reporting deviations or hazards immediately.
- Liaise closely with the Day Toolpusher and Company Representative to ensure seamless shift handover and operational continuity.
- Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, safety checks, and crew performance.
- Support rig maintenance and inspections to ensure operational readiness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of offshore drilling experience, with at least 3 years as Toolpusher (Night or Day) on Jack-Up rigs.
- Proven experience in HPHT wells, Workover, or Development Drilling operations preferred.
- Valid offshore certificates: BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS, Medical Fitness, and IWCF Level 4 (Supervisor).
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Familiarity with Petronas and international drilling standards (API, IADC, etc.).
- Knowledge of rig equipment maintenance, safety management systems, and well control procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multicultural crews and coordinate with multiple departments (drilling, maintenance, logistics).
