Role Overview
The Structural Designer will be responsible for producing structural design deliverables for offshore engineering projects, including 3D modelling, detailed drawings, and material take-off (MTO). The role requires strong technical knowledge of offshore structural detailing and experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
The designer will support structural engineers by ensuring that engineering requirements are accurately translated into design models and drawings while maintaining compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and fabrication considerations.
This position involves working within a collaborative engineering environment supporting offshore facility development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 3D structural models for offshore facilities using E3D software.
- Prepare 2D structural drawings, detailing, and connection drawings in accordance with project specifications.
- Ensure engineering requirements are properly captured in design models and drawings.
- Extract and verify Material Take-Off (MTO) from structural models.
- Produce and check structural design deliverables in line with project schedules and quality requirements.
- Ensure compliance with engineering codes, company procedures, and recognized industry standards.
- Coordinate with structural engineers and other disciplines to resolve design and interface issues.
- Interface with design teams, engineering teams, and project stakeholders during project execution.
- Support the preparation of fabrication-ready drawings and ensure installation considerations are incorporated.
- Ensure the accuracy and consistency of design deliverables across project documentation.
Requirements
Education
Technical Diploma or equivalent qualification in Civil, Structural, or related engineering discipline.
Experience
Minimum 7 years of experience in structural design for offshore oil & gas facilities or related energy infrastructure projects.
Experience in structural detailing, 3D modelling, and design deliverables for offshore engineering projects.
Technical Software Requirements
Mandatory
- AVEVA E3D – advanced experience in structural 3D modelling
- Experience in Material Take-Off (MTO) extraction from 3D models
- Strong knowledge of structural detailing and joint detailing
Preferred
- Experience with S3D (Smart 3D)
- Experience with Tekla Structures
- Experience with BOCAD
