Overview
We are supporting a European logistics and shipping organisation in identifying a commercially driven Business Development professional to grow its presence in Malaysia.
This role is focused on new business acquisition, targeting clients across freight, project logistics, marine logistics, and related sectors. The position is suited for individuals with a strong “hunter” mindset and proven ability to build revenue pipelines from scratch.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities across:
- Sea, air and road freight
- Project and marine logistics
- Energy, mining and industrial sectors
- Proactively generate leads and build a sustainable sales pipeline
- Lead client engagement including meetings, presentations and commercial discussions
- Prepare and contribute to RFQs, tenders and commercial proposals
- Collaborate closely with regional teams (especially Singapore) for cross-border project execution and service delivery
- Maintain and update CRM systems with pipeline, client interactions and market intelligence
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements to support business growth strategy
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or shipping
- Proven track record in new business development (hunter role)
- Experience building or expanding revenue streams
- Strong understanding of freight/logistics solutions (air, sea, road, project logistics)
- Commercially driven with strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and drive business initiatives
- Comfortable working in a regional environment with cross-border coordination
Preferred
- Exposure to energy, offshore, mining or industrial logistics
- Experience working with regional stakeholders (ASEAN / APAC)
