Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Geophysicist with 10 to 15 years of experience in Production Sharing Contracts (PSC), Sarawak waters, and exploration activities. Based in Malaysia, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a long-term exploration project starting in January 2025. The selected candidate will work under a direct contract with our end client, with contract terms to be finalized.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct advanced geophysical studies and analyses to support exploration and appraisal activities.
- Perform seismic interpretation, mapping, and attribute analysis to identify hydrocarbon prospects.
- Integrate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to create comprehensive subsurface models.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define exploration targets and evaluate drilling opportunities.
- Apply quantitative interpretation techniques, including seismic inversion and amplitude versus offset (AVO) analysis.
- Design, oversee, and evaluate seismic acquisition programs tailored to Sarawak water environments.
- Evaluate PSC obligations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and exploration commitments.
- Provide technical input for field development plans and exploration strategies.
- Deliver presentations and reports on prospect evaluation, risk assessments, and resource estimates to stakeholders.
- Stay updated on advancements in geophysical technologies and methodologies relevant to the oil and gas industry.
- Mentor and guide junior geoscience team members, fostering technical development and knowledge sharing.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, or a related field.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in geophysics with a focus on PSC operations, Sarawak waters, and exploration projects.
- Proven expertise in seismic interpretation, prospect evaluation, and hydrocarbon exploration techniques.
- Familiarity with PSC frameworks, regulatory requirements, and exploration commitments in Malaysia.
- Proficiency in geophysical software tools such as Petrel, Kingdom, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of Sarawak water geological settings and subsurface challenges.
- Excellent analytical skills with a track record of identifying viable hydrocarbon prospects.
- Effective communication and presentation skills to engage with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and adapt to project requirements.
- Willingness to be based in Malaysia and travel as needed for project assignments.
