Job Summary
The Barge Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing the stability, ballasting, and structural integrity of the barge during offshore operations. This role ensures safe and efficient marine operations, compliance with regulatory standards, and coordination between offshore teams to support installation and construction activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the ballasting and stability of the barge during operations.
- Ensure compliance with marine regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Coordinate with offshore teams to support installation, lifting, and construction activities.
- Monitor and maintain the barge's structural integrity and seaworthiness.
- Oversee mooring, anchoring, and positioning of the barge in coordination with the Marine and Installation teams.
- Conduct routine inspections of marine systems, equipment, and ballast control systems.
- Supervise and guide offshore personnel involved in marine operations.
- Maintain accurate records of ballasting operations, stability calculations, and marine activities.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, marine surveyors, and clients as required.
- Assist in emergency response and ensure preparedness for marine-related incidents.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in offshore barge operations, with at least 3 years in a Barge Engineer role.
- Valid offshore survival certification (BOSIET/FOET) and relevant marine competency certificates.
- Strong knowledge of ballasting operations, stability calculations, and marine regulations.
- Experience with offshore construction, heavy lifting, and mooring operations.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in offshore environments.
- Familiarity with IMO, SOLAS, and other offshore safety and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work with multi-disciplinary teams.
