Role Overview
The Senior Production Technologist is responsible for optimizing well and reservoir performance to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective hydrocarbon production across offshore assets. The role bridges onshore operations, subsurface, and offshore production teams to deliver production excellence, field development, and recovery optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day production technology support to offshore assets (wells, reservoirs, and facilities).
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize production performance, ensuring delivery against field targets.
- Evaluate well performance using nodal analysis, inflow/outflow modeling, and surveillance data.
- Lead well intervention planning (workovers, stimulations, sand control, artificial lift) and post-job evaluations.
- Support reservoir management by recommending production enhancement strategies and WRFM activities.
- Collaborate with drilling, reservoir, and facilities teams to design and execute production optimization initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis for production underperformance and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure compliance with PSC requirements, company standards, and Malaysian regulations in all production technology work.
- Prepare production technology reports, forecasts, and recommendations for management review.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers and offshore staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years’ and maximum 25 years’ experience in upstream oil & gas.
- At least 8 years’ experience with a client/operator, covering offshore production facilities (FPSO, platforms, subsea).
- Proven track record in well performance optimization, nodal analysis, and production system modeling.
- Demonstrated experience in workovers, stimulation, sand management, artificial lift, and well integrity assurance.
- Strong understanding of WRFM, reservoir surveillance, PSC obligations, and Malaysian regulatory frameworks.
- High commitment to HSE, operational governance, and production integrity.
