Job Summary
As a Lead/Senior Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and executing safety engineering activities during the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phases of FPSO projects. You will ensure the implementation of best practices in process safety, technical safety, and regulatory compliance, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of offshore production systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage safety engineering deliverables across FPSO projects in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and client specifications.
- Conduct safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, FERA, EERA, and bow-tie analysis.
- Develop and review safety engineering documents such as Safety Philosophies, Fire & Gas Detection Layouts, ESD Cause & Effect Diagrams, Escape & Evacuation Route Plans, and Safety Equipment Layouts.
- Interface with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, clients, classification societies, and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (API, IEC, ISO, DNV, ABS) and local legislation.
- Participate in and/or lead design reviews, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Mentor and guide junior safety engineers and ensure quality control of safety deliverables.
- Support the development of Safety Cases and ALARP demonstrations for FPSO operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in safety engineering processes and tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8–12 years of experience in safety engineering within the oil & gas industry, preferably with significant exposure to FPSO projects.
- Strong knowledge of offshore safety systems, layout safety design, and fire protection systems.
- Proven experience in leading safety studies and coordinating with external stakeholders.
- Familiar with international safety codes and standards applicable to FPSO design and operations.
- Proficient in safety analysis software tools (e.g., PHAST, FLACS, DNV Safeti, PIPENET, etc.).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
