Location: Kuala Lumpur (Office-based)

Contract Duration: 6 months (commencing October 2025)

Experience Level: 8–12 years


Role Overview

The Cost Controller is to manage and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance for ongoing upstream operations. This role will be instrumental in ensuring financial discipline, transparency, and accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

● Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems, processes, and procedures for project activities.

● Monitor project expenditures against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and providing corrective recommendations.

● Prepare cost reports, cash flow projections, and management dashboards for senior leadership.

● Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and finance teams to ensure alignment of commitments, accruals, and actuals.

● Support contract management, including review of contractor invoices, claims, and change orders.

● Assist in financial risk analysis, cost optimisation initiatives, and audit requirements.

● Contribute to end-of-project financial closeout and lessons learned processes.


Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or equivalent.

● 8–12 years of cost control experience within oil & gas, EPCC, or related industries.

● Strong background in project cost management, reporting, and financial analysis.

● Proficiency with cost control tools and ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/Primavera preferred)

● Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

● Professional certifications (ICM/ACCA/CIMA/CPA) are an advantage.
