The Drilling Superintendent is responsible for the overall planning, execution, and management of drilling operations, ensuring activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and within budget. This role involves close coordination with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to achieve drilling objectives.
šÆ Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight: Manage and supervise daily drilling operations, ensuring adherence to the approved drilling program and compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the drilling team, including supervisors and engineers, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Program Development: Collaborate with drilling engineers to develop and optimize drilling programs, incorporating lessons learned and best practices.
- Budget Management: Monitor and control drilling expenditures, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising safety or quality.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all drilling activities comply with Malaysian regulations and company policies, including timely submission of required reports and documentation.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between onshore management and offshore drilling teams, facilitating effective communication and decision-making.
- Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring preparedness for potential drilling incidents
š Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 15 years in the oil & gas industry, with at least 5 years in a supervisory drilling role, preferably within Malaysian waters.
- Education: Bachelorās degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: Valid IWCF Level 4 Well Control Certification; BOSIET/HUET certifications.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in drilling software such as Landmark OPENWELLS; strong understanding of drilling engineering principles and practices.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities; capable of making informed decisions under pressure
š Preferred Qualifications:
- Local Experience: Familiarity with drilling operations and experience working with PETRONAS or other Malaysian operators.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex drilling projects from planning through execution.
