Job Summary:
The Senior Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for leading process safety activities during the Concept Development and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phases of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects. The role involves ensuring that safety is integrated into the project design from the early stages, addressing the unique challenges associated with LNG facilities. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, efficient, and compliant design solutions, providing expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety system design specific to LNG operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Concept Development for LNG Projects:
- Participate in the development of project concepts, including the selection of LNG processing and storage technologies.
- Identify potential process safety risks unique to LNG operations, such as cryogenic hazards, vapor cloud explosions, and high-pressure systems.
- Develop safety design philosophies and criteria tailored to LNG projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Front-End Engineering Design (FEED):
- Lead and manage process safety activities during the FEED phase for LNG projects, ensuring that safety considerations are integral to the design.
- Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), including HAZID, HAZOP, and What-If studies, with a focus on LNG-specific hazards.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate safety requirements into LNG facility designs, including layout, equipment selection, and safety systems for handling LNG and associated gases.
- Safety Studies and Analysis:
- Perform Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), Consequence Modeling, and other safety studies specific to LNG projects.
- Develop and review safety studies, including Cryogenic Spill Analysis, Vapor Dispersion Modeling, and Fire and Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA) for LNG facilities.
- Ensure the proper implementation of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and other safety barriers in the LNG project design, in accordance with IEC 61511 and other relevant standards.
- Regulatory Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure that all process safety aspects of the LNG project comply with local regulations (e.g., WSH Act, SS506) and international standards (e.g., ISO 16903, NFPA 59A, API, IEC 61511).
- Prepare and submit necessary safety documentation for regulatory approvals, environmental impact assessments, and client requirements.
- Interface and Communication:
- Work closely with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that safety objectives are met during the LNG project lifecycle.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, ensuring that LNG-specific safety challenges are addressed.
- Present process safety findings and recommendations to clients, regulatory bodies, and senior management.
- Risk Management:
- Develop and maintain the LNG project risk register, ensuring that all identified risks are tracked and mitigated throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in design reviews, safety reviews, and other project meetings to ensure that LNG process safety is adequately addressed.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in process safety engineering, with significant experience in Concept Development and FEED for LNG projects.
- Proven experience in leading process safety activities for LNG facilities, including liquefaction, storage, and regasification plants.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of process safety regulations, standards, and best practices for LNG operations, including ISO 16903, NFPA 59A, and API standards.

- Certifications:
